DJ KMBRK (pronounced KIM-bahrk) is a rising star in Chicago’s music scene, blending youthful energy with a refined musical sensibility. While new to the world of DJ services, KMBRK is no stranger to music. He has been classically trained in piano since childhood, later expanding his expertise to mastering the keyboard and organ.
KMBRK’s journey into DJing began in 2023, when he wowed a crowd at a New Year’s Eve party. Among the attendees was a local Chicago radio DJ who encouraged him to learn how to use a DJ controller after witnessing him successfully energize the crowd with nothing more than his iPhone. Inspired by this encouragement, KMBRK dove into the art of DJing, honing his craft during the final days of the pandemic and seeking mentorship from some of Chicago’s top DJ elites.
Known for his versatility, DJ KMBRK seamlessly blends a wide range of genres—from Hip Hop and R&B to Afrobeats, Dancehall, Reggae, House, Steppers, Top 40, and beyond. His ability to read a crowd’s energy and craft a perfectly tailored set has quickly made him a sought-after performer.
KMBRK has already earned gigs at a variety of venues across the Chicagoland area and even on national platforms. His name, inspired by Chicago’s iconic Kimbark Avenue in East Woodlawn, reflects his deep connection to the city’s vibrant culture.
DJ KMBRK graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign with a B.S. in Accountancy and an MBA from DePaul University. He is a member of the National Black MBA Association, 100 Black Men of Chicago and a lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
